MFP… Most Famous Person? Miniature Family Portrait? Move Faster, Please?
Although any of those would technically be true, a “MFP” is really a Multifunction Printer. This is an advanced machine that can print, copy, and scan documents. Depending on the features you pay for, some MFP’s can also fax. Multifunction printers can be small desktop machines or a large standalone piece of equipment. You have probably seen desktop options at Office Depot that look like this:
As you can see, this printer can print, copy, scan, and fax. While these may be useful for home use, they are usually very expensive to manage from a business perspective. Buying individual ink cartridges at full price for several desktop printers is time-consuming and costly. You can save your organization money by putting all of these desktop MFP’s on a Managed Print Services program, discounting your ink/toner and sending it right to your door as you need it. Managed Print Services also provides maintenance on these machines, so you don’t have to run around wasting time and fixing everything yourself.
If you are looking for an even better MFP solution, you should consider a MFP for your entire organization or a division within your organization. These are larger units that look something like this:
These machines offer much faster print and copy speeds than desktop MFP’s. They are also much cheaper to operate once they are up and running, costing fractions of a cent per page. These MFP’s can also be added to your organization’s network, so documents can be scanned to email or uploaded to the machine remotely. A larger MFP consolidates your printers, eliminates waste, and saves money by managing only one machine’s supplies instead of supplies for fleets of printers. A MFP also has finishing options, such as stapling and booklet-making, to make your documents stand out.
