Casey’s

Casey’s General Stores, Inc., and Laser Resources (LRI) have been working together in Des Moines since the early 1990’s. Scott Arneson, Casey’s Data Center Operations Manager, said that Casey’s has used LRI equipment to print a wide range of documents, including financial documents, profit/loss statements, warehouse labels, employee checks, reports, and various internal documents. UnityPoint Health System

UnityPoint Health System operates their own print shop in Des Moines, where they print a wide variety of different documents for the diverse and expansive health system. Although they were keeping busy, Print Shop Manager Bill Routt was disappointed in his service, and he saw room for improvement. Xerox had been the print systems vendor for UPH, and they were also tasked with managing the print shop at the time. UPH leadership didn’t want to pay for a vendor-managed facility anymore, and Routt said the local team from Laser Resources (LRI) came calling at just the right time. “We wanted to get out of our Xerox contract; it was just way too expensive,” Routt said. “That’s how LRI came on scene: they were able to replace all of our original equipment and save us some money in the process.”

Iowa State University

The Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering (ABE) Department at ISU was facing a conundrum. They were moving into the new Biorenewables Complex, but they were stuck with aging copiers that were each supported by different brands. National Pork Board

The National Pork Board in Des Moines, Iowa, communicates with pork producers, importers, and customers all over the United States. Clearly, they have a lot of documents to generate and distribute. According to Chuck Cozad, their IT Director, the Board was spread between too many machines. They decided to consolidate with a color machine from Laser Resources. “When we added the color printer, we were trying to consolidate our printers. Bringing that particular unit in here is a more cost effective color solution in a higher volume,” Cozad said. “This is beneficial because a lot of our materials are in color.” Download the Case Study. 

SourceHOV

Larry Parker, a 20-year employee of SourceHOV and their current Laser Print Operations Manager, says that the Iowa company has been with LRI from the very beginning. “LRI started with us when we were UIS (United Information Services). We were their first account. We were a very small operation then; we maybe had 2 printers,” Parker said. “We have been with LRI ever since.” Download the Case Study.

WDMCS

According to Brian Abeling, Director of Technology for West Des Moines Community Schools, the district used Xerox for their document needs for years before LRI responded to a RFP in spring 2010. Staff members were unable to send documents from personal computers to copiers and printers, making printing inconvenient. Teachers couldn’t print confidential documents, such as report cards, without risking others seeing these documents sitting on the copier before the teacher could pick them up. For WDMCS, printing became expensive because the district lacked the ability to monitor usage and costs down to the individual staff member. Departments within each school were shopping for different deals with different vendors and it was difficult to coordinate their efforts efficiently. Download the Case Study.
